“My dad loved westerns. He probably saw every single one on TCM's lineup fifty times over. He'd watch them in the kitchen while cooking or baking. The kitchen was his domain and he was nearly always working on something. He loved making apple pie so that's what he's making here. If I was sitting in the room he'd put me to work too and tell me stories about going to see the movies in the theater when they first came out when he was a kid. He could name all the actors and the years each film was made. He loved siding with the bad guy for comedic effect. ‘My main man!’ he'd yell, as the villain pulled his gun on John Wayne or Gary Cooper or Clint Eastwood. It always made me smile.”
